Minutes of the Nebraska Firearms Owners Association August 2012 Board Meeting.
The meeting opened at 7am on Friday, August 10th, 2012.
1.) Approve July Board Meeting Minutes
Dan M. moved to approve the minutes as posted and Andy A. seconded. With six aye votes, the motion passed.
2a.) Formation of Educational 501(c)3
No new updates this month.
2b.) Lawsuit Updates
No new updates this month.
2c.) Election of Board Members
Andy A. suggested an election timeline of opening nominations at the NFOA Members Meeting on September 29th, close nominations in mid-October, and hold elections at the end of October. General consensus agreed that this would be a good schedule and nominations will open at the 2012 Members Meeting
2d.) Work with G&P to develop a public range at WMA
No new updates this month.
2e.) Scholarship Program
Still looking for an NFOA member to head up this project. If no members are interested in leading this effort, the topic will be dropped.
2f.) Lobbyist
Andy A. updated that he has an attorney who has volunteered to help with a Lobbying Committee by helping draft bills and a couple other attorneys who are willing to review and add perspective (one from private sector one from public) on the drafts. NFOA still needs a couple members to volunteer to help do research in the capitol archives for some upcoming bills. Andy A. also presented the idea of having a professional lobbyist on retainer if the NFOA needs someone at the capitol immediately and none of the other member volunteers can make it down to the capitol quickly. Cost and effectiveness were questions that were brought up and no resolution was made on the concept of putting a professional lobbyist on retainer.
