Your opinion wanted...
« on: October 24, 2013, 02:15:25 PM »
Midwest Tactical Solutions and Centrolutions are continuing to expand and improve the LASR software, and we are looking for some suggestions for scored target templates.

Basically, we want to hear what targets you like to use for live fire and dryfire. We are specifically looking for the most popular bullseye targets, but any other suggestions are welcome.

Templates currently on the list:
IPSC Metric
IPSC Classic
IDPA (circle center)

NRA "Bianchi Cup" Bullseye
Equally spaced concentric generic bullseye

B-21
B-27
E-type (Plain, no zones)
IALEFI
IALEFI with near miss
FBI Q (Plain, no zones)
FBI Q-AT (Triangle head, additional CM zone)
FBI Q-Omaha (Used for NE CHP, head and CM zone)

PRT Metric (IPSC variant)
CSAT Target (IPSC variant)
VTAC Target (Anatomy side)

FBI Q-Omaha (Used for NE CHP, head and CM zone)

The Q target for official NE CHP class has head and CM zones marked?  ....are you sure?

There is a version of the FBI-Q target used by OPD, I'll note.

Looks like it to me:

Center mass is the faint gray box, you aren't required to hit it during the CHP course of fire, just be breaking the white, IIRC. More of a chest area I guess.

Whoops, I misread the question.

Anywho, is the Omaha Q not the target used? I guess I made the assumption just based off of what I have seen used at local classes. It's what I shot on.

Pretty sure I shot the same target that Wallace displayed.
It definately had a CM box.

I regularly use a B-34 target for live fire, dry fire gets a plain bullseye.
It is highly likely the above post may offend you. I'm fine with that.

I'm not arguing that it could be used---but I don't think it is required.  Regulations state the target needs to be an FBI-Q target.  The Omaha version has the lines faint enough to not be visually distracting, so I doubt the state patrol would have a problem with it--but something like this is the official target:

http://www.letargets.com/estylez_item.aspx?item=Q-T

or this

http://www.letargets.com/estylez_item.aspx?item=Q-WH

...to the best of my knowledge.  Hits are either in the bottle, or out.  No extra zones needed or drawn to be used as aiming points.

State Patrol regs say:  "The target used shall be the FBI “Q” target."   ( https://statepatrol.nebraska.gov/media/10070/ccwregs.pdf page 24 )

(I suppose if someone really wanted to be technical, they could say that other variants of the Q target weren't legal, as they had other elements that were either visually distracting, or helpful as aiming points.  I doubt anyone would do that, though, since it would be pretty stupid.)

I'll note that my CCW (back when I took it from Chris Zeeb) used the standard Q, not the Omaha Q.

Good suggestion. Anybody got anything else?
