OMAHA, Neb. —Police were called to the home of an Omaha City Council member Monday afternoon after a neighbor saw teens breaking into the home.
Councilman Garry Gernandt told KETV NewsWatch 7 he was in a meeting when he received a call from his neighbor saying she called 911 after she saw five teens break into the side door of his home near 17th and Ontario streets.
"My heart was racing. Everything that a victim goes through, I was experiencing," Gernandt said.
Gernandt said the burglars tore through his home, packing up his
old police gear and loaded guns. Police arrived as the teens were packing up.
