OK I just took another, closer look at the video. I still say Dreyfus is worthy of some respect for standing up to the anti-gun bigot Morgan and defending the NRA. But there are some serious flaws in his statement, which I attribute to ignorance, and maybe a desire to not disagree too strongly with his host.
He says the 2nd Amendment is ambiguous, which it most certainly is not. Most patriots though agree that there is such a thing as reasonable restrictions on a Constitutional right, and those who argue that there should be no restrictions on Amendment 2 usually do so because anti-gun bigots poisoned the well, using the concept to outlaw as many arms as they can. Dreyfus' comment makes the point that a group like the NRA is best suited to determine where the line should be drawn, because they are the experts. He didn't state it very well and didn't stand up to the bigoted host like any of us would have liked him to, but he's an actor, not a writer, so what can we expect?
