First hunting related impulse buy of 2014....
lunchbox:
Just got my tag. I have no idea where Im going to hunt, but I figured what the heck. Its good all year.
RobertH:
LB671 - Chamber's bill to eliminate Mountain Lion hunting has passed on to E&R initial. see the full member's section to see my letter to my Senator. we will also need to hit up the Gov for this. send your opposition letters now!
RobertH:
i posted this in the member's only section, but figured i should post it here as well...
and one more thought...
the NE G&P allows Bighorn Sheep hunting, but there are very few out there. hell, we've had to import them from Canada, but the season is closed since there are not enough large males to hunt. so, why can we open and close the season on Bighorns, but outright eliminate the Mt Lions season?
landon410:
when i was deer hunting pine ridge I saw 4 big horn sheep, was pretty cool.
I'm not opposed to Mt Lion hunting, but what do you do with it after? mount it? what about the meat? Are you going to eat cat?
Did you guys hear the story about the Cali game and parks guy who went on a legal lion hunt in Wy (or some such state) and was fired from his job for legally harvesting a mt lion in a different state?
Mntnman:
You can eat it. Makes ok jerky, too. I want to kill one if it comes on our land simply because it does not belong there. This area is no longer ideal habitat for them and a population of them would create problems that I don't want to have. The vast majority of confirmed sightings are because the animals presented a safety concern where they turned up and were dispatched. Nebraska used to have them as a nonprotected status meaning you could kill one if you saw it. That was until someone killed one, then they made them a game animal with no hunting season. Iowa still allows them to be killed, I believe.
