OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - State Senator Charlie Janssen says he's dropping out of the 2014 governor's race.

The Republican from Fremont tells the Omaha World-Herald that he decided he couldn't win in such a crowded GOP primary field, saying ``I didn't see a clear path to victory.''

The 43-year-old entered the race almost a year ago. Five are now vying for the GOP nod, including Omaha businessman Pete Ricketts and State Auditor Mike Foley.

That's too bad, I like him.
Nobody thought Deb Fisher had a chance, and look where she is.

Charlie wasn't going to get a $2M check at the last moment from "Daddy" Ricketts a week before the election......

I imagine Daddy R. will invest in his own kin!
By the way, anyone seen Bob Kerrey around lately?

Anyone know Mike Foley's 2A views?  He's done a good job as auditor but I don't know much else about him.

I like Foley, and I think he'd be good on gun issues. He caught a lot of flack for leading the charge to pass a bill, and then override the Governors veto, that didn't exclude illegal immigrants from obtaining prenatal care under the state medicaid program. He said it was a matter of being prolife and that he wasn't willing to treat unborn children differently based on who their parents are.

From what I read, Bruning may get in the race and Janssen may be trying to line up the Lt. Gov. spot on the ticket under Bruning.
