i guess that would make sense.

i had purchased some brushes at scheels, which also came with these picks.

polymer
http://www.amazon.com/Tipton-Polymer-Gun-Cleaning-Picks/dp/B0048KGFHU/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1392913375&sr=8-2&keywords=gun+cleaning+picks

then did some searching around and these popped up.

stainless
http://www.amazon.com/Tipton-324770-Wheeler-Stainless-Steel/dp/B008NABK4E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1392913375&sr=8-1&keywords=gun+cleaning+picks

what it boils down to, is the stainless are dental picks.

after doing a bit more paying attention, they popped up on amazon when searching for "gun cleaning," but were only labeled as wheeler stainless picks.

Any tool that has a hardness equal or greater than the material you are using it on can and will scratch the surface of the item being cleaned.  Brass, bronze or polymer for cleaning picks.

That said, I do have a couple of steel picks with hook ends that are sometimes used to 'assist' a spent cartridge from the chamber.

I'd never heard of "gun cleaning picks" until this thread.  What do you all use them for?  Or maybe better put, how do you use them?
