Check your permits!!

AAllen:
If it's a handgun the permit is required, NICS and a 4473 does not cover it.

DaveB:
Okay, that is something I did not know.

Anyway, boys and girls with gunshow season in full swing, please, please take a moment and check your purchase permits!!!

I was forced to turn away THREE sales over the weekend due to:

No purchase permit, and expired permit, and a permit that was left at home.

There isn't much more frustrating for seller AND buyer than to spend time negotiating and settling on an agreeable price to only have the sale stopped due to not having a purchase permit.

I did not know about handguns, my mistake on calling them in.

landon410:
sounds a lot like what the police did in my home town.
Someone (under 21) would walk into a bar and order a drink (under direction of PD) to see what the bar would do.
I actually knew a couple kids that did this, shady, but I wouldn't put it past the batfe or any type brach of the current admin to try to catch someone breaking a law at a gun show in an attempt to shut them down.

we already know they'll raid gun shops even if there is a federal restraining order active against them, why not try to catch or trip up a dealer at a show?

newfalguy101:
As indicated above, in Nebraska, a purchase permit is required by State law to transfer a handgun, and  as I understand the law, anything that transfers as an "other" also requires a purchase permit as it is NOT a longgun.

Three buyers were ready to buy stripped lowers, I had to decline all three as no permits.

While I suppose its possible, ATF *could* run a sting like this, I very seriously doubt that is the case in these instances, besides, its NOT a Federal law anyway, so as far as ATF is concerned its  State issue NOT theirs.
