Decrimping Brass

I am collecting a nice assortment of 223/5.56 brass some crimped some not. I/we(pops) have tried doing some power reaming with a Hornady reamer with some less then stellar results (cut pockets to deep). I have read up and down the internet. This is one of the better articles that I have read.

 I like the idea of the CH4D swager but since we are running a progressive press this set up won't work out. Dillon seems to be one of the most popular but also the most $$$. The reamer is by far the cheapest method but also one of the easiest was to ruin a perfectly good piece of brass.

So guys what are using or do you have any helpful hints or tricks that you are using to decrimp your brass

I have a 60 degree countersink that I chuck into a cordless drill.  About a half second and it cuts out the crimp.  It's a lot sharper than normal chamfer tools meant for reloading so it makes a nice clean even cut.  If you're coming to the black rifle match on Sunday I can bring you one.  I have several extras.

 I do the same, I have a small cordless drill, hold about 10 shells in your hand, and just touch each one to the countersink, Ive done over 100 k of 223 brass that way,

My suggestion: shoot something better / more interesting than 223

Reamers and countersinks are all decent options.

All in good time unfy all in good time. [emoji6]. My list of wants keeps growing right now. But the kids and dog have to eat before I get into different calipers I want to get paper work in for a SBR and at least one can. The can is designed... but need the stamp and a lathe.... might be time to find myself a machine shop to moonlight at

No charge, I paid next to nothing for them.

The Lyman VLD works perfect for 223.  It bottoms out in the pocket before cutting too deep.

A pocket knife or screwdriver will work. I have used my RCBS chamfering tool often. You just need to remove the crimp from the base of the case, not ream the whole primer pocket.
