I have carried with leather and kydex/plastic against my bare skin. My experience is that they will ALL start rubbing you the wrong way at the end of a long day. Brian is spot on. An undershirt is essential for the long term. If the holster contacted the same place on your skin all the time, it might stay comfortable. However, any holster is meant to hold the gun in a certain position, angle, and at the same place on (or inside) your belt. You and your skin on the other hand will be moving in all directions.

Just my humble opinion. Your mileage may vary.

This is interesting to me, because I've carried (in kydex) for quite some time (including 18-hour days, long-distance car rides, situations with lots of walking, etc) without chafe issues at all.  I've certainly had times when the holster dug into me, due to how I was sitting/crouching, but those were all temporary issues.

I can't recall a time when chafe was an issue.  Huh.

(And no, in the summers I don't wear an undershirt under the holster.)

I think that it also depends a lot on the individual.  How much do you sweat?  How sensitive of skin do you have and is it easily irritated?  Everybody will be somewhat different.

He does great work.  It's a pity his work has to be concealed most of the time.

This is a good testimonial.  Might need to have you make a flap holster or two someday.  I love those for a revolver and good ones are increasingly hard to find.
