Open Carry Tactics- Texas
« on: May 11, 2014, 04:32:12 AM »
The article is from Texas, but I thought it was interesting considering the current debate over the recent Urinal Star article.  Seems there is a rift in the OC groups in Texas over methods of staging events.  The parent group requires prior notification to police and the carrying of flags with Open Carry Texas logo.  The group that went to the Jack in the Box didn't notify and police claim employees hid in the freezer, although that point is debated by those who were present.

The article from baringarms.com:  http://bearingarms.com/split-develops-texas-open-carry-movement-tactics/

I wonder what LPD would do if a group called and said they'd be holding an OC event/protest...

I'm not sure that open carry in Texas and open carry in Nebraska can even be compared. Open carry is illegal in Texas. It is not a police mandate to notify, it is Open Carry Texas' own policy.

Open carry is illegal in Texas

To be precise the open carry of handguns is, with few exceptions, illegal in Texas with or without a permit. Long guns can be carried openly with care not to breach the laws governing Disturbing the peace in Texas (which defines an offense, in part, as "displaying a firearm or other deadly weapon in a public place in a manner calculated to cause alarm")

Call in the swat team, national guard, highway patrol, the sheriffs new MRAP and the governors helicopter.

I carry a gun because a cop is too heavy.  I carry a lot of ammo because I cant run very fast.
