i like history and WWI fascinates me (especially since my grandfather on my dad's side served in late 1918).  here are some pictures from a 10-part series from the Atlantic.  http://www.theatlantic.com/static/infocus/wwi/

One of these days I need to scan some of the pictures that my Grandfather took while he was stationed in Paris during the occupation. He was in the infantry and was on a steamship on his way to Europe when the Treaty of Versailles Armistice was signed. He worked in the postmaster's office and took quite a few pictures on his down time. 
Some of the devastation is pretty incredible.
