Is The Ammo Shortage Nearly Over?

<< < (5/5)

shooter:
a longtime before walmart, even before K mart, I bought 22 ammo at 49 cents a box of 50.  from a coast to coast hardware store.

bullit:
For some historical reference.....  I was buying Blazer Brass and Remington Green Box (UMC) .45 ACP at Wal Mart for $9.54/50 rounds as recently as 2007.  As recently as 2008, I was buying same brands of 9 mm Luger (9x19) at WM and Dick's for $6.95/50

Sale or regular price?

We have to factor in inflation and the rise in current component (metal, lead, etc) costs due to supply & demand. That will leave us with the "panic factor" of price increase.

bullit:
Fly...those were regular prices for the most part at that time.  I think Dick's in DFW has a .50 cents off per box on the 9 mm at the time, but I hardly call that a sale.  I do understand supply side economics, inflation, etc, but I feel the "panic factor" and the "idiot who will pay too much" factor is the biggest driver today.

zofoman:
(Sigh).....was at Guns Unlimited (again) today....

American Eagle .223/55g FMJ @ $8.79/20
Winchester Power Point .22LR/42g Copper HP @ $5.99/50  (limit 200 rds per...though they had bunches)
Pallets of other stuff available.
