AR problems

shooting my AR this weekend, all the sudden I had a failure, checked the weapon and could only pull the charging handle back about an inch or so, removed mag pulled handle back around an inch and could at least check that it was clear.

Took upper off lower and in the trigger well I found my buffer retainer pin and spring.
The spring is all messeg up as well, not sure how this happened.
Should be easy enough to fix, just need a new spring, and since I have the buffer tube all off I'll put on a one point sling mount.

anyone have a buffer retrainer spring in stock local?

That is interesting.  I thought it was going to be the primer in the trigger group at first.

The only thing I can think of that would cause that would be the buffer tube not being turned in enough to capture the pin.  When I build them I usually run the tube all the way up to the pin then back it out so that the tube is correctly aligned with the stock.

this happened somewhere around 300 rounds into the life of the rifle.
I'm not worried I'll order a new spring, gave me excuse to play around on my guns last night.

my work bench is the top of my deep freeze in my garage, I've learned I need some better lighting and a castle nut wrench, things would go much faster if I had those 2 things.

i fixed the retainer pin spring using a spring off a pen. Seems to work, but I screwed up my rear take down pin spring while putting buffer tube back on, but the hole for my rear take down pin detent and spring is so tight I had to use a drill bit to help push the detent pin in and its pretty well stuck in place, so I don't know if it even needs a spring

What kind of lower is this? Polymer?
