July 4th will be the last day to legally use consumer fireworks in the City of Omaha.
The Omaha Police Department will be hosting a Metro Area Fireworks/Gun Amnesty Day on Saturday, July 12th from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. for those who have fireworks and/or guns they would like to properly dispose of. The event will be held at two locations in the metro area and will accept all fireworks, ammunition and guns with no questions asked.
Locations:
Omaha Fire Station #43: 5505 North 103rd Street
Seymour Smith Park: 72nd and Harrison Street

i've been tempted to drop off some dummy rounds or spent casings or damaged rounds, and just to talk to the people who show up and see if i can score some cheap (meaning free) ammo before they give it to the police.

OMAHA, Neb. —Omaha police said more than 200 vehicles dropped off items at the annual fireworks/gun amnesty day.
People dropped of items at the Omaha Fire Department Station 43 and Seymour Smith Park.
Authorities collected 900 pounds of ammunition, 800 pounds of fireworks, 41 firearms, 25 long guns, 16 handguns and seven pipe bombs.
