2014 ENPS/Marine Toys-For-Tots ZOMBIE MATCH, Oct 26th...
« on: September 14, 2014, 12:35:02 PM »
Cross-posting this here because this is a once-a-year event, and I know that some people don't read the Shooting Sports forum.  :)

Full info in the Shooting Sports Forum:  http://nebraskafirearms.org/forum/index.php/topic,12792.0.html

General Idea:  the ENPS group and the Eastern Nebraska Gun Club host a yearly Zombie Match to benefit the Marine Toys-For-Tots Foundation, which is a great cause.  This is our fifth year of the match, and we've grown every time.  Last year we were able to donate almost $1500 and three HUGE boxes of toys, and we'd like to be able to donate more.

Cost is $20 or a new-in-the-box toy (feel free to donate more!) and all of that goes to the Marines---we don't keep any of it.  ENGC is donating the equipment, and the ENPS match staff is donating their time so that we can help this outstanding charity.

Take a look at the above link for more details, check out the Zombie Match website, and come shoot!

Match Date:  October 26th, 2014
Place:  Eastern Nebraska Gun Club
Cost:  $20 or new-in-the-box toy
7 stages, run in USPSA format, Time-Plus scoring

This is why we have the Zombie Match, folks.

Seriously.  This is what it is all about.  What with all the jokes about zombies and shooting---in the end, the _whole reason_ we do this is to help the Marines give a little happiness to kids who simply wouldn't have any at Christmas.

Truthfully---even if you don't shoot, feel free to come out on match day and donate.  And laugh at us and our shooting.  If you do shoot, c'mon out and have fun!

But---the point of this is to see how much we can GIVE.  Donate $20 or a new-in-the-box toy.  Feel free to donate more.  We don't keep any of it, and we take NONE of it to pay for anything.  EVERYTHING goes to the Marines.  The staff and ENGC donates everything the match needs to run---time, money, equipment, consumables.  EVERYTHING you give goes to kids who really need something good to happen to them for once.

(I'm posting this both here and in the thread in the Shooting Sports forum.  I know, I know, it is bad form----but some people don't read the SS forum, and this is important.)

Tomorrow we are at the range putting up the stages, Saturday the staff is shooting, and Sunday is the match!

So two things:

1) If you aren't busy on Friday, feel free to come out to the range and help set up.  :)

More importantly:

2) Donate.   Even if you can't make the shoot---you can still donate for a good cause.  If you aren't into competition/action shooting---come out, donate, and watch.  Stay for lunch and help the Boy Scouts fund-raise.   If you can't do that, give some cash to someone who IS coming to the match, and have them donate it in your name.

We give it all to the Marines right there, so unfortunately, later donations given to us won't work---though you can always find a way to donate directly to the Marines!

We still have space for more shooters (we'll ALWAYS make space for more shooters at this match!) so you can still sign up and come shoot.  Failing all else, if you suddenly decide on Sunday morning to shoot, come on out and register at the match prior to 8:30--we'll still let you shoot!
