HUNTERS ED!
« on: August 30, 2014, 02:43:21 PM »
Oh my, it just dawned on me. Even though the boy child has been 12 for a few months now, it just dawned on me ( because dove season is around the corner) that I need to get him thru Hunter's Ed, and Pronto.
Anyone holding classes in/ around Lincoln in the near future?
Just thought I would check here first before searching out strangers.

Here's Good News:

The Apprentice Certificate

An Apprentice Hunter Education Exemption Certificate is available once in your lifetime for those who must have Firearm or Bowhunter Education, however, have not yet completed the education requirements.

All hunters under age 12 or those using an exemption certificate must be accompanied at all times while hunting by a licensed hunter age 19 or older and if that hunter is 19 through 29 they must have completed education and carry proof. Accompanied means you must be in unaided verbal and visual communications at all times.

You can buy the AHEEC online.

The kid has aced the HE Tools program I have on my laptop, so I know he knows the material and what is expected.

Bright Kids can study for the HE exam on-line and then attend a NEG&P FE Field Day program, which will (a) be fun and (b) shorten the HE program time to receive their HE card.

Dove season starts..............tomorrow!
You can get your son's Apprentice card online @ NEG&P today.

I looked into that route, but a field day is kinda hard to come by round these parts.  ( I highly recommend it though, I think every kids needs to put a hand on a gun to pass HE. )
Thanx for all the info, we get the apprentice pass until I can get him a course.  H
