AR15 mag 5 round limiter

(1/4) > >>

RobertH:
so i want to make a couple of 5 round mag limiters.  can any one post dimensions or materials or how to's?  i will be using with 30rd PMAGS or 30rd USGI mags.  i would like non-permanent limiters.  thanks for any help!

JAK:
Mag-Pul makes a insert for their 20rd magazines to limit them to either 5 rds or 10 rds depending upon model.

I have made magazine limiters in the past simply by inserting a wooden dowel rod of the appropriate length inside the spring.

With the magazine base removed, load how many rounds you want the magazine limited to, insert the dowel rod and mark where it sticks out of the magazine.  Remove the down rod and cut just above that mark.  Reassemble the magazine with the dowel rod in the center of the spring and test.  You may have to adjust the length slightly to get to the point that you can insert a loaded magazine in the gun with the bolt closed and not be able to load 6 rds in the  magazine.

Hope that helps,

I like Magpul's limiters for the P20. My only complaint is that you can not insert the mag with the bolt closed and 5 in it. I think that I will shave a little off because it irritates me.

I really think that we need to make a priority to get the NGPC to do away with round limits. Silly regulation that doesn't do what they think it does, anyway.

In the past I have used the dowel trick and it works just fine.

This year, I ended up buying a five-rounder made by Thermold, and it worked very nicely, being pretty well flush with the magwell.

i think the 900ft/lbs @ 100yds is lame.  i would rather see it 900ft/lbs @ the muzzle.  sometimes its hard finding ammo that lists ft/lbs @ 100yds on the box.

i will have to try the dowel trick.
