No question that he has all the credentials necessary for the medical community.  I can find nothing where he is an American citizen having been born in England and migrated to the US with his parents (Miami, FL) when he was 3 yrs old.  Doing more research....

His practicing experience is what has been called into question (aside from lefty views). What I've heard is that his experience would not qualify him for a job as Chief Surgeon of a hospital much less the nation. Yes, he is a political bootlick for BarryO but that's to be expected.  To call out the gorilla in the room, probably his best qualification in Valerie Jarrett's mind is that he is "not another white guy".

I'd say his main qualification is that he's a partisan liberal hack who has no honor and will do everything in his power to assist Obama in his war on America.  If not being white was the main criterion someone like Ben Carson would be an excellent choice.  (Actually he'd be an excellent choice no matter what, which is why Obama would not even consider him for that or any other position.)  The absurdity of such a poor choice for Surgeon General when there are so many good choices available says much about the state of our government these days.

Sort of like how our current Secretary of Defense was given his job as payback for endorsing Bob Kerrey.  Or how virtually every ambassador appointed by this administration is a major Obama fundraiser instead of a career diplomat.
