It seems like some people didn't read the post (which is the topic of conversation) before commenting. The topic is lightened/aftermarket triggers. Empty or loaded chamber has zero bearing on the issues being discussed in the post by Massad Ayoob.

It's like bringing up hand loaded ammunition when discussing which manufacturer makes the best barrel. Yeah, it's related, but it has no direct bearing on the issue. The quality of the barrel isn't decided by whether or not you hand load your ammo. Just like the litigation in question that Ayoob discusses isn't affected by having an empty or loaded chamber. If you have a lightened trigger, the same issues can affect you regardless of you carrying chambered or unchambered.

Exactly. I read through all his posts on that forum and his guidance is all pretty straightforward. Don't modify your gun. If you have a DA or striker fired weapon and don't like the weight of the trigger pull, maybe a 1911 would have been a better choice. And the other interesting point is that, even if you INTENDED to pull the trigger because "the feller deserved a killin" that doesn't mean squat in terms to liability.
