Stevens (Savage) 320 Pump 12 Gauge

(1/1)

sculver:
Hello everyone.  The one firearm I don't have in my safe is a pump shotgun.  I'm not really a shotgun hunter and am interested in something only for home defense.  After reading everything I could find on the Mossberg 500's and Remington 870's, I came across the Stevens 320 pump for less than $200.  The exact model I'm thinking about is the Security model with pistol grip and ghost ring sites (http://www.savagearms.com/firearms/model/stevens320pump).

From what little I could find this shotgun is a copy of the old Winchester 1300 design.  I thought I'd ask some of you fine folks for some advice about this shotgun if you have had any experience.  Thanks and I appreciate any advice about this shotgun or a similar one you might think will work just as good for home protection.

Respectfully,

Steve

If you watch the local for sale forums/groups on Facebook, armslist, etc you can usually find a used 500/870 for about $250. I personally would much rather one of those, especially considering the aftermarket support available.

That's my two cents, for what it's worth.

You're two cents is valued.  I've actually looked around in the local gun stores and have not found a good condition Mossberg 500 or Remington 870.  The other consideration is a warranty if I buy something new.  Thanks.

FarmerRick:
Maybe check out the Fremont gun show this weekend, there'll probably be a few guns to interest you.

gsd:
That is also an option. I know you can get a plain jane 870 at scheels for about $300.
