Remember the old police scanners from way back?
« on: April 12, 2015, 06:49:51 PM »
A few months ago I found this (free) scanner app to listen to police/sheriff calls.   Can set to other locations as you want.  Just enter in the search bar “Nebraska” and you’ll get a list of available (plug in other states & cities if you wish to hear what's going on in your old hometown).

I'm usually tuned into the "Lancaster County Sheriff and Lincoln Police Dispatch" scanner audio feed and have it running in the background on my pc & once in awhile on my smart phone.  It is interesting to hear all of the activities that go on around the city & surrounding area that don't always make it to the media.  I now have even more respect for the LEO's & the crap they go through daily.   Also, just a forewarning, its easy to get hooked on this listening thing.   Also could be useful in case TSHTF.

Multiple ways to get to it:
? Using your computer by going to   http://www.bbscanner.com/listen.php?id=39965
? Using an Android phone or tablet using the Scanner Radio app ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.scannerradio )
? Using an iPhone or iPad using the Scanner Radio Deluxe app ( https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/scanner-radio-deluxe/id498405045?mt=8 )

Many of us used this during the Ferguson fiasco.  WOW!  Some of those calls.... You just can't make that stuff up!

Just a heads up. Radio shack is closing up.  They have a $499 scanner Digital for $221. Some places also have 20%-50% off and even up to 90% if you wait
