DHS to buy another 62 million rounds of 5.56
(1/1)
shooter:
seems like the govn.t has found a way to keep us from having 5.56 ammo, they are going to buy it all,

Mali:
And yet again the price will go up as the panic buying begins.
66bigblock:
lol. I hadnt noticed that the price had come down since the last "armor piercing" scare.

What makes me mad is that there is no good reason for .22 ammo to be so scarce, and then so expensive when it is available. The Obama panic can't be blamed any more, unless people are stockpiling so much they have to build warehouses in their back yards. I think the industry is creating a shortage to make the price go way up.
As far as government buying up all the 5.56, maybe if a loyal American wins the next presidential election some of the surplus will be available as surplus.
JTH:
Do we have to go through this every time the government makes an open Request for Proposal for ammunition?
DHS goes through a lot of training ammo. And the request is not about buying, it is about submitting cost proposals so that an open contract (with a max, not a buy amount) can be set.
This happens all the time, and is not new. Matter of fact, this time it even explicitly states that this will be instead of other buys, and isn't in addition to other buys.
Matter of fact, for all the people decrying law enforcement ineptitude regarding firearms training, you'd think we'd want them to have MORE practice ammo.
