Reinforce the buffer tube area and use a high strength material....boom.  Instant stripped lower.

Oh, Yes!   I'm thinking a swirl of complimentary colors would be better than the starburst/skittles variety.

The idea of using lost wax to cast aluminum is really interesting.  Add a simple propane torch powered forge and you can turn your old beer cans into receivers. :)

It is highly likely the above post may offend you. I'm fine with that.

What about all that Black Cherry flavored Shasta you buy on flats?

Oh, wait a minute, that was 30 years ago....

I'm no metallurgist, but did I read correctly that beer can aluminum is not an ideal composition for making AR lowers? If so, how much more expensive would aluminum of the correct composition be, or would it be too difficult to work with?

No idea, but if polymer receivers work (with a little reinforcement in key areas like the buffer tube) I don't see why any kind of aluminum wouldn't.

My problem is that I don't drink pop and only bottled beer.  :)

You could melt down your glass bottles and make a glass receiver. Just don't drop it!
