Stress Training...
(1/1)
JTH:
After seeing what the stress of being on a timer while people were watching did to his shooting performance (this was at the NFOA Annual Meeting), a person asked myself and Shawn W on Facebook to comment about stress training and the effects of adrenaline on performance.
There are a lot of misconceptions out there about what stress and adrenaline does to the human body, and what people's capabilities are like under stress, so I thought I'd write a blog article about it instead of simply commenting. (Warning: That means I wrote quite a bit. :) ) There is a tendency for many people to take simplistic statements and phrase them as absolutes, telling people "this is how things WILL happen for you!" without any understanding of the mitigating effects of training and experience on perceived stress levels--so I thought I'd do some commentary regarding how perceived stress can be affected.
Part I is up on my blog, discussing overall the effects of stress and the purpose of stress training. Part II will come later with some specifics about different types of stress training, and how different training methods can be used to reduce adrenal effects under stress.
