Gun theft leads to grandson

La Vista police say a 16-year-old boy last week stole 13 guns from his grandfather.

Most of the guns are collectibles ? such as a muzzleloader pistol ? but one is an SKS assault rifle.

The weapons were taken from Donald Hanover, 53, of La Vista. The guns formerly belonged to Hanover's father, who has died, said Capt. Kevin Pokorny of the La Vista Police Department.

According to Pokorny:

About 12:20 p.m. Nov. 11, a neighbor of Hanover's saw two young males jump a fence, at least one of whom entered Hanover's home near 75th and Gertrude Streets. The neighbor alerted Hanover, and police were called.

After Hanover checked the house and discovered that the guns were missing, he told officers he figured that his 16-year-old grandson was responsible because some of the guns had not been stored in plain sight.

Police contacted the grandson, who confessed. By then, though, he no longer had the guns.

Police arrested the grandson, another youth, and Cameron S. Jacobson, 20, of Omaha on suspicion of burglary.

Authorities are still trying to find the person who has the guns, valued at several thousand dollars.

So, my question is this:  Because an SKS is a scary "Assault Rifle" :o, that makes it NOT collectible?  ???

Freak'n media idiots.  ::)

#1- It's safe to assume anyone in 'Media' is a complete idiot until they prove otherwise.
#2- What kind of piece of crap steals from his own grandfather? Perhaps this is harsh but I hope this ruins this kids life.
