From what I can find, carrying concealed at a city council meeting, among others, is strictly prohibited and no one has the authority to waive it.

It's never stopped Omaha from doing what ever they want too do. ::)

After re-reading the article, it doesn't mention concealed carry. I assumed that's what they were talking about, and if so, it's not legally possible for the city council to allow it (I'll stand by my first response). The council may be able to allow open carry if it wants, but I'm not sure that was prohibited in the first place.

The council met last night and agreed to prepare a resolution repealing or modifying the city's current rules. Councilman Gamby wants to do away with the gun free zones on city property. I spoke at the meeting in support of Dr. Gambys action and all members of the council except one agreed. Councilman Miles Bannan felt taking down the signs would not be in the cities best interest as it would allow open carry in the council meetings and result in a shootout at the ok corral if an incident occurred.(As if the sign would prevent an incident) http://www.chadrad.com/newsstory.cfm?story=38589
