I wouldn't fulll weld it just drill and pin then top off with a tack weld. There is no need to fully weld the cap.

If you're going to use pure lead rounds, then cleaning is very important.

I wouldn't do it your way, sounds like a hassle, but its your guns.

Depending on how he does it you could possibly still make it disassemble depending on the design and cleaning schedules .

I don't load 5.56 with lead. so not a problem there. was trying to go for something more like the MP-5SD,

I've been thinking of going this route the next time I do a SBR too, a AR in 9mm but going to hold off any any decision till after I get my currant suppressor build stamp back.

I figure that suppressed is all I'd shoot it so why not save a $200.
