Why?  That hasn't been made official at all, and there is a 2-year moratorium on changing rules in the rulebook...

JTH:
Question:  For the last BUG match, IDPA Nebraska said:
"Mags for the BUG gun must be the stock mags for the respective BUG gun (i.e., G17 mags cannot be used in a G26)."

...but the rules say:
8.2.6.6.1.6 The firearm with the largest magazine inserted must fit in the IDPA gun test box measuring 7 ¼” x 5 ½” x 1 ?” (184.2mm x 139.7mm x 34.9mm.)
8.2.6.6.1.7 Magazine length (tubes plus base pad) that extend no more than 1.0” (25.4mm) beyond the bottom of the grip.

...this would allow some older G19 mags to be used in a G26, for people who don't have lots of G26 magazines.  Are we still not allowing that, or are we going with the rulebook?

Matter of fact, someone even asked that as an official question using the Q&A tool on IDPA.com:

Question is Related To Equipment Rules
Specific Rule (Section 8.2.6.6.1.7)
Question About Current Rule
Does bottom of the gun mean the bottom of the grip or does it mean the bottom of the grip only where the magazine is inserted? A Glock 19 magazine extends less than 1 inch from the bottom of a Glock 26 grip at the rear, but it extends more than 1 inch from the bottom of the grip in the center where the magazine is inserted. Is a Glock 19 magazine legal in a Glock 26 under the BUG rules?
IDPA Response
The measurement is made from the front bottom of the firearm grip to the furthermost point at the front of the magazine, and must be 1.000" or less. "

Are we still going with the "stock mags only" rule, or are we going with the box and the 1" rule from the rulebook?

Aldo:
Comments and queries are greatly appreciated.

1-second rule: IDPA Nebraska has employed this coming "official" change for the past couple or so Tier 1 matches with no issues or complaints. It will be interesting to see how this issue evolves over time (i.e., IDPA HQ either advances it or tosses it into the abyss).  ::)

Re the handgun/magazine query: as long as the aforementioned combo fits in the "IDPA Box with the BUG inserts" as well as complies with the "1-inch rule", then the combo is good to go.  8)

So (to be a pain in the butt) we are shooting IDPA matches but not according to the current IDPA rulebook?

:P

(Considering that when they came out with the last rulebook, they said there was a moratorium on changes for at least two years, and the "1 second per point down" commentary didn't have any particular time frame on it...not to mention the backlash against that particular scoring idea that has been a continuing topic of conversation.  Not that IDPA HQ has listened very much to folks in the last...well, ever.)
