I will not be quite. And with all due respect to Rick what has talking nice  gotten any of us. Sometimes you have to rock the boat. When politicians refuse to listen to the average every day Joe then the average Joe needs to get louder until they listen.
I'm not really talking about the firearms issues but rather the rest of the crap that is going on in this country.
I hope they take this to the U.S. Supreme Court.
Just my thoughts.

Is the 1st Amendment to the Constitution still in effect or do I NOT have the Right to Freedom of Speech??  If I don't like something and a candidate has sausage between his ears I'm going to say something!

Now I don't mean going out and cursing this person but getting my point across to him/her in a straight forward manner is my right!

If the 'candidates' don't like the heat, they had better stay out of the kitchen and cry on their mama's shoulder!!!

You BOYS GOT IT RIGHT....and its a wonder if they ever thing just how close they are getting to all people on a national level getting ready to defend what amercia once was and its people wanting it to be again.... the pot is steaming and the viddles are cooked and its going to spill over.

While I agree that the student's rights are being violated here and I hope he wins his case, FarmerRick makes a good point. Being rude and abusive to our representatives will only turn them off and, if we identify ourselves as NFOA members, reflects badly on our organization and reduces our impact, IMO.

Absolutely- they are 2 different issues: Effectiveness and Freedom. Being a jerk may be a right but it isn't persuasive. I contact Ben Nelson's office occasionally & briefly and politely sharing my opinion since screaming rants aren't going to acknowledged. I absolutely have the right to say what I believe- however injurious it may be to tender sensibilities but Freedom of Speech is not a guarantee to be taken seriously.

ETA: That is NOT to say there isn't a time to be loud and explicit- but common sense applies particularly if you are representing a group/organization (NFOA).

Agreed, and that was the point I was trying to get across.
