  Well, rats....Arizona has good taste then (he says after re-looking at the list).  Horace Smith and Daniel  Wesson made some fine handguns over the years.  The Model No. 3 Schofield (.45 Schofield or .45 Smith & Wesson) in particular.

DenmanShooter:
The first U.S. Army units to be stationed in Nebraska would have been issued the U.S. Model 1816 Musket.  Later on the .45 caliber trap door (Springfield).  Civilians would have probably had a version of the plains rifle (muzzle loader) until much later. 

Buffalo hunters would have had the Springfield, Sharps or the Remington rolling block.

But I vote for the Colt .45 Peacemaker :)
