official state firearm

Why can't Nebraska have an official state firearm?  I nominate the Glock...  Or maybe an early Winchester would be more appropriate.

If you want something that really says "Nebraska Nice", there could hardly be a more ubiquitous upland game, turkey and waterfowl gun in Nebraska than a Remington 870.

Nebraska became a state in 1867 if I remember right, so the 1873 Winchester might be a good choice.  Or maybe a Winchester 1866.  Or if we could talk Glock into building a factory in Nebraska...  The 870 is a good choice too.

I was going to say that with Nebraska's ties to the old west and the Badlands
it almost has to be a Winchester or a Colt.

Sorry but Glock don't cut it for official state firearm. :o

It just has to be "Made in the USA" baby! :laugh:

i want to say AR15, but thats way over done.  however, i can't believe no one has mentioned that whatever gun that is chosen, it needs to shoot Hornady ammo and be sold by Cabela's.  LOL.  just kidding, but, a better one would be Bighorn Arms.  their actions are made in Bennett after Scott from SilencerHQ bought them.  so there's that.

My vote(s) would be for the Colt Single-Action Army Revolver for a handgun or Oliver Winchester 30/30  designed by John Moses Browning for rifle category or Parker Brothers VH for the shotgun variety.

  Well, rats....Arizona has good taste then (he says after re-looking at the list).  Horace Smith and Daniel  Wesson made some fine handguns over the years.  The Model No. 3 Schofield (.45 Schofield or .45 Smith & Wesson) in particular.

The first U.S. Army units to be stationed in Nebraska would have been issued the U.S. Model 1816 Musket.  Later on the .45 caliber trap door (Springfield).  Civilians would have probably had a version of the plains rifle (muzzle loader) until much later. 

Buffalo hunters would have had the Springfield, Sharps or the Remington rolling block.

But I vote for the Colt .45 Peacemaker :)
