USPSA/SCSA just announced the long-awaited update to the Steel Challenge classification system. FINALLY they have one that is division specific, AND includes all the rimfire divisions also.
Very cool!
Info here:
http://www.steelchallenge.com/classificationSystem.phpIt is pretty simple, and best of all, you don't have to do anything differently to get classified---no "special classifier" stages, no need for a special classifier match! The normal stages you shoot (of the 8 official SC stages) are automatically considered as part of your classification scores, and your best run (out of the current year or the previous year) on each stage will be added up to a total stage time that will be compared to a "peak time" total to get your classification percentage.
In other words, there will be both individual "peak time" goals you can work toward on individual stages, and an overall peak time goal you can strive for to raise your classification.
The explanation at the link above is pretty straightforward, and the classifications are supposed to be updated every single Wednesday. So every time we have a match, and the scores get uploaded and paid for, you should have a classification update (if needed) by the next Wednesday.
...make sure to ask SeanN here what his classification in Rimfire Rifle Optics ends up being after the first-ever update which should happen after July 4th. (After a cursory look at his stage times and some math, he might be a local FIRST in terms of classification.)
