Even though I doubt it passes, we cannot get caught off guard. Now is the time to start motivating and educating people!

Exactly!  People need to start thinking about personal letters and phone calls to Senators.  Signing an online petition is okay, but doesn't do much to further our cause.  Ernie is arguing that AR style rifles only belong in military hands.
