ENPS Steel Challenge match January 22nd

(1/1)

JTH:
The first ENPS Steel Challenge match of 2017 is scheduled for January 22nd.  6 official stages, only $15.

Match registration: https://practiscore.com/enps-january-2017-steel-challenge-match/register

Got a .22 pistol?  .22 rifle?  Pistol-caliber carbine?  Centerfire handgun with a safe strong-side OWB holster that covers the trigger guard?  At least three magazines (though 5 is really really preferred)?

Then you are good to go! (Don't need a holster for the .22 pistol, by the way.)

As there is no reloading on the clock, and only one stage out of the eight official stages has movement on the clock (lateral movement of about 6 feet), this is a great match for people just starting out in competition shooting! (It is also a seriously good time for people who want to find out how FAST they can be.)

Important Note: Everyone must be in line by 8:30AM at the latest or you will not be allowed to shoot! Please do not show up late! We do not want to turn people away but we will have to if you are late.

Sign up now!

(Remember, we have a Level II Steel Challenge Championship coming up in April--the 2017 Great Plains Steel Challenge Championship.  And we have Level I matches in January and February that you can use to practice up...so get yourself registered!)

Match Schedule:

* Registration and Stage Setup starts at 7:30AM (please come help!)
* Registration closes promptly at 8:30AM. If you are not in line by 8:30AM, you will not be allowed to shoot the match! We will, as always, do our best to accommodate squadding requests but your chances are exponentially better at getting those requests fulfilled if you register online or show up very early on match day.
* Safety and New Shooter briefing at 8:40AM in bay 5
* Shooter's Meeting at 9:00AM, shooting starts immediately after.
Matches are run under the current official Steel Challenge Rules.

See you at the range!

Good to see everyone at the match yesterday!  41 shooters showed up, and while bay 6 (up the hill, where the wind was pretty constant) was a little cold, everything else was just fine.

And bay 6 was Outer Limits, so it wasn't like we were going to love it anyway.   :P

Ok, shooting Rimfire Rifle Optics was ridiculously fun.

I had thought that pistol-caliber-carbine optics (the division) was previously the most fun, but....RFRO has all the good stuff of PCCO with a lighter rifle and (effectively) no recoil.

Yesterday was the first day I ever shot a rimfire rifle (of any type) in Steel Challenge, and it was a ridiculously good time.  You can simply shoot a .22 rifle faster than a PCC.

My times yesterday beat my best times EVER in PCCO (over those six stages) by 3.24 seconds.  My first-ever-try-at-rimfire-rifle times were better than my best ever PCCO times on 5 of the 6 stages.

It was ridiculous.  FUN FUN FUN!

People should come out and try this next month!

(....PCCO is still a really good time.  And I might have had a different opinion if the .22 had been acting up in the cold...)
