Great Plains Steel Challenge Championship, April 22nd and 23rd
JTH:
The Eastern Nebraska Gun Club is again hosting a Level II Steel Challenge Championship match this year!
Important thing to know: You do NOT have to be a member of USPSA or SCSA to shoot level II SC matches, so this is open to ANYONE. (That isn't true for USPSA Level II matches, but it IS true for Steel Challenge.)
Website with registration link, payment link, and matchbook:
https://easternnebraskapracticalshooters.com/great-plains-steel-challenge-championship/
Basics:
* Date: April 22nd and 23rd
* You can shoot in up to four different divisions
* All 8 official Steel Challenge stages.
* Cost: $25 for first division (includes lunch ticket), $15 for each additional division.
* Format: Half-Day blocks. Each squad will shoot the entire match (all 8 stages) in a half-day block, so you have four different choices of block in which to shoot the match--Saturday morning, Saturday afternoon, Sunday morning, or Sunday afternoon.
* Shooting: You can shoot up to two different divisions in each block. So if you are only shooting 2 divisions, you can shoot both in one squad, and complete the entire match in one half-day. If you want to spread them out, you can. If you are shooting 4 divisions, you can shoot one per block, two in one block and two in another, and so on. Your schedule is up to you as long as you register and pay early enough to squad yourself.
* Limitation on squadding: The only limitation on squadding is that while you can shoot the same gun in mutiple divisions (for example, a Production-legal gun can be shot in Production, Limited, and Open), you CANNOT shoot the same gun twice in the same squad. (Example: Shooter signs up to shoot 3 divisions: LTD, PROD, and RFPO. He is shooting the same gun in both LTD and PROD. He can either sign up to shoot one gun in each of three blocks, or shoot two on one squad and one on another, but his squad for LTD and PROD must be different as he is shooting the same gun twice. This reduces the effect of a shooter using one run for “practice.”)
Shooting four divisions in a level II match for only $70?? You should completely do this! :)
If you are shooting multiple divisions, PLEASE remember that you need to register once for each division. (When you pay, pay for all at once, obviously. But register first, once for each division.)

The only drawback I can see is being limited to shooting only 4 guns.
Looking forward to it

I dunno, I'm pretty much maxed out with Production, Rimfire Pistol Irons, Rimfire Rifle Optics, and Pistol-Caliber Carbine Optics.
I mean, I HAVE guns for more divisions than that, but.....these are the guns I actually SHOOT. (Though...it WOULD be amusing to borrow an 8-shot 9mm revolver with a red dot from someone and try that in Optical Sight Revolver. I'd be horrible, but it would be fun...)
One of the things that I really love about Steel Challenge is that OTHER than really tiny guns (which you can still shoot, the limited capacity just means you can NEVER MISS), pretty much every centerfire pistol or .22 rimfire firearm can fit in a division SOMEWHERE.
* Have an old Ruger Mark I? Great. Rimfire Pistol Irons!
* Bought yourself a new S&W Victory, switched out the barrel to a TacSol integrated comped one, and put a dot on it? Great. Rimfire Pistol Optics!
* Got a Kel-Tec Sub2000 in .40S&W with iron sights? Pistol-caliber carbine irons!
* Bought a Just Right Carbine and put a dot on it? Pistol-caliber carbine optics!
* Glock 17? S&W M&P? XDm? Perfectly good. Production.
* Stippled, undercut trigger guard, slide serrations Glock 17? STI? Any 2011? Limited!
* Went all out and got yourself a SERIOUS Open gun? Or maybe have an old bowling pin gun with a dot? Perhaps a Bianchi Open gun? Great! Shoot Open!
* Got that trusty 1911? Excellent. Single stack!
* Don't trust the reliability of anything but a quality revolver? Got it! Iron Sight Revolver!
* Got a Ruger 10/22 in stock condition? Perfectly good! Rimfire Rifle Irons.
* Bought a S&W 15-22, put a compensator on it, and added a good red dot optic? Rimfire Rifle Optics....something for EVERYONE.
You only need a holster for centerfire pistol divisions. (Everything else starts at low ready, so you'll just carry your gun bagged the rest of the time.) So: Gun, holster (if centerfire pistol), ammunition, and magazines. (PLEASE at least three, but preferably 5 so no one has to quickly reload them for you in the middle of your strings of fire.)
....and that's it. That's all the equipment you need.
Try it!
Not sure about trying it at a Level II match? Then come out next Sunday the 19th and try it in a local match! See here for details: https://nebraskafirearms.org/forum/index.php/topic,16436.0.html
Once you try it, you'll love it. Seriously. You will.
You should probably just go to the Great Plains Steel Challenge Championship website and register now. You are going to want to anyway. :)
JTH:
We are currently up to 187 guns registered to shoot the match.
That beats the current Steel Challenge match record in Nebraska by....about 81 guns. :)
The great part? It doesn't change our timing or schedule at all! You will still shoot the entire match (all eight stages) in a half-day block.
If you haven't registered yet, you'll want to get on that, though, because squads ARE filling up fast, and if you wait too long, you won't have as many choices of when you want to squad.
Remember, you have to register and pay before you are allowed to squad, so make sure to do both. Once we get the payment notification, we'll send you a squadding email. And remember to register for each division you want to shoot---if you plan on shooting 3 guns, remember to register 3 times!
JTH:
And we are now over 200 guns registered. :)
Pretty cool!
Up until 275 guns, our match schedule won't change a bit. (And while I'd love to push that number, I don't forsee that this year. Feel free to prove me wrong, though!)
So....still shooting the entire match in a half-day. Which means that you KNOW you want to shoot multiple guns. Sign up so you have a choice in squadding!
Remember: You need to register and pay before you are officially in the match and are allowed to squad. If you haven't paid, you'll get deleted from the match on match day. We aren't going to be taking payment at the range, and you must be squadded prior to match day.
So sign up now! :)
