Protesters beware

NE doesn't have this law... yet. I can't help but believe that this is a potential for good and bad. Too many people will not be happy if there is another protest like the one on Center street last year.

I'm not sure why laws like this are needed? If you are driving with due care and someone is standing in the middle of the highway how could you be faulted?

Because "pedestrians have the right of way."

It doesn't take into account that said pedestrian is standing in the middle of the road with a bunch of other loonies screaming out obscenities and blocking all the traffic. You are expected to give them the right away or let the police deal with it.

Yup, they have the right of way even if they're committing a crime.
