M1 Garand CMP
« on: April 11, 2017, 07:11:30 PM »
No doubt we'll be seeing M1 Garands available through CMP now that a loyal American is in the White House.  So this raises a question in my ignorant little mind: is there any good way to put a scope on this rifle, without putting a new stock on it?

The CMP actually has some Sniper versions in stock that already/still have bracket in place.
There are mounts available that mount a scout scope .
I follow a FB page M1 Enthusists  Group.  Them crazy fools know A LOT about these guns. https://www.facebook.com/groups/2245285688/

If Anybody runs across a rather beat-up CMP  "US Rifle, Garand, Caliber .30, M1" that has the following features:

"serial number 1070170, rifling discontinuous, torn, and broached, stock and forearm scarred and marred, butt plate dented and pitted, bolt OK"

Please have them hold it for me.  I'll pay full price; no discounts requested.   Despite all the defects, it still shoots Expert.

I always fantasized that the barrel was shot out during a Banzai charge on some Pacific Theater island.  It certainly had undergone some kind of Unusually Hard Use.
