Face To Face Sales?
« on: November 09, 2017, 12:50:21 PM »
Simple question, are face to face firearm sales legal in Lincoln, NE? Specifically long guns, and if so, any tips for a safe and smooth transaction?

I can't seem to find a straight answer online.

Thanks

Personal sales? I hope so. Because ‘Merica. And because I’ve done a few.

I require a CHP or purchase permit and drivers license, all current and from Nebraska. Bill of sale signed by both parties. All of the above photographed as part of my record.

Hopefully that’s all legal and proper.

If not I’m taking the Kevin Spacey defense and saying it absolutely never happened and if it did I don’t remember and I was prolly drunk so it’s all good.

Personally I would conduct all such business outside the city limits to avoid any reporting requirements Lincoln or Obamaha might think they have the power to enforce ;)

Shotguns and rifles not required to be reported to LPD for private sale.  If you don't know the person, conduct transaction in a public parking lot during daylight hours.  See 9.36.030  Or to simplify  http://lincoln.ne.gov/city/attorn/lmc/ti09/ch936.pdf

conduct transaction in a public parking lot during daylight hours.

Another generally workable spot is a local indoor gun range.

>Folks are not spooked by seeing guns in cars in the parking lot.   Much less likely to call 911/"Man With Gun"
>Buyers can try out the guns at the range.   On their "dime".
>Other armed citizens around the premises.
