Firearm left in vehicle for the day?
BigD75:
So in a couple of weeks my wife and I are getting ready to go to Wisconsin and Chicago. Last night my wife asked me "Is there any legality in leaving your firearm in the vehicle?" She asked this because some of the events we're going to wouldn't be fond of us bringing a firearm into the building. My thought would be...there's no legality if no one knows its in there, however if your vehicle gets stolen with your firearm in there-that's a big deal! So, obviously my question here is I don't want to leave my firearm in the hotel room safe (if it has one), I'd rather bring it along just in case. I would think it would be ok in the vehicle, however I'm still going to be worrying about it. What do I do, what's right, what's wrong?

Reason?

Start with www.handgunlaw.us whenever you travel with a firearm. I don't know the answers to your question about storage where you're traveling, but that site might help.
sidearm1:
Illinois does not recognize a Nebraska CHP. When traveling in Illinois going to another state keep the firearm and ammunition separate and locked in a lockable case away from any contact by the passengers.
