DanS:
Lets pass over the mulitude of LE officers who risked their lives to protect the public and perform a heroic action in everyones eyes but their own, and do something asstounding. Sorry if this too political, but wow...

Stopping the government from regulating the content of the internet actually protects hundreds of millions of people from censorship by bureaucrats. Having private companies set their business practices is free market. While social media is free to censor us on the sites that they own, it won't necessarily make good business sense. Giving the power to the feds who have no accountability is bad in so many ways. It already has too much power to pick winners and losers through regulations and tax code. Any of time a group benefits from an aimed policy, someone else is likely saddled with their share. (You know, the rich, lol.) So I think the issue is bigger than you think.

DanS:
I think the issue is net neutrality, not censorship or content restriction by the government.

Its a power grab by Cable Co's, and those who support big business over the consumer, for example the FCC, who have hated to have to charge the same fee to their competitors who want to stream movies, etc.

I am remembering how well Cable TV de-regulation went as far as promises made by Cable companies for ala carte channel choices, and hence lower prices, it turned the consumer pays more now, for shows they never watch, because its in the "bundle" or "tier" they have to chose from.

Mntnman:
You can tell how bad net neutrality is by who is pushing it. When government gets involved, it goes from free enterprise to government cronyism.
