Gun restriction laws always come with negative consequences

I strongly believe in the Constitution and the rights of the people.  I also strongly believe in the rule of law.  In over 30 years of dealing with felons, I may have a slanted view.  She had options, why plead, take it to court and have a jury rule.  Why not try and get this expunged from her file.  I would be willing to bet that the thing that gave away the "famous plant" was the smell, and if the cops could smell it so can the occupants.  I also can't figure out why when transporting the "famous Plant" people do stupid things, like speed, swerve out of their lane, cut people off, etc.  She knew what she was doing.  If we just look in the city of Lincoln, approximately 70% of the home invasions deal with the "famous Plant" and other drugs.  We have had a mother killed over the "famous Plant".

Y'Know....I've pondered the very same thing.   Because it's in the newspaper accounts all the time.  I've wondered why they don't just get behind a big double-trailer doin' just under the speed limit and stay there.

Must be some kind of an overt psychological response to hidden inner guilt that just won't stay suppressed and wants to pop out somewhere.   More than one cop has told me that they can watch a suspect and tell if he's packing heat.   Because he always keeps on messing with the gun.   Patting it to be sure it's there.  Hefting it.   Touching it.   Adjusting it through the clothes.   Just can't leave it alone.  And so on.

Can't figger the fascination with illegal drugs when plain vanilla ice cream is just so very darned good.   And legal.

Just guessing, but I'd think most who transport....don't partake while transporting.  ymmv

Never partook, so I couldn't say.  However, when my wife and I were houseparents at Epworth Village I used a simple test to determine if  vegetative matter was pot, or not.  (I was teaching organic chemistry at York College at the time.  My wife was the official houseparent).

Take a pinch of the suspected material and put it in a small test tube or vial.  Add about 10 ml of 180 proof vodka (or 95% pure Ethanol if you can find it).  Shake it.  Add a drop of PURE Vanilla extract (the clear, colorless variety,  and shake for about a minute.   Let it settle.  If the alcohol layer has a blue tinge then the material has THC.  The darker the tinge the stronger the weed.     

Had a high school kid come home behaving like he was under the influence of pot.  Claimed he bought a "bag" for $10 (back in 1968-1970 $10 bucks was a lot) but I'd never find it.   I searched his room and noticed a small 1cm long string with a small knot in the end protruding from behind the light switch.  Who wouldn't think of looking behind wall sockets and switches, or outside of windows, etc..?  I unscrewed the plate and retrieved a bag containing vegetative matter.   It tested negative for THC.  It didn't smell like pot (hay stack), it smelled like Tea.   I let the dozen kids  around me, and the pot buyer, watch as I did the test.  When I announced that it was not pot but probably weed and gave the bag back to the kid who bought it.  He was instantly sober ... and embarrassed.
