Does anyone know when and if LB 1033 will be up for vote.  Takes out the Omaha requirement for registration of a gun if you have CC permit.  Loophole in current CC law for Nebraska, Omaha still requires a registration to utilize your CC permit in the city limits.  Pretty hokey in my opinion.

The bill has not advanced out of committee. Very likely it is going to take filing a lawsuit against the city in order to get them to comply with the state law

How about a opinion issued by Brunning as to the legality of Omaha's registration in relation to permit holders?

An AG opinion will be good to get, however that will not cause Omaha to comply. They are already thumbing their nose at state law, an AG opinion will not sway them.

An AG opinion will come down the road

I don't see why Christensen doesn't just file LB 1033 to LB 817. That way circumventing the idiots on the judiciary committee and letting it get a full vote on the floor.

To make a long story short.... Senator Christensen is facing a tough re-election bid this year. He has other pressing issues in his district that he has to put some focus on. Forcing 1033 on top of 817 could burn some bridges he has built on other bills.

That is how the Legislature works unfortunately. Sometimes some things are easier said than done.

Well I hate to have to go register just because they missed a word in the first bill.  But I also don't want to be arrested since I go in and out of Omaha every day.  Any other suggestions?

Well for me I already went and registered my three carry pistols with Omaha even though I am a Bellevue resident. I did this in August of 2008 so a year before LB 430. However I do think that the language in LB 430 was pretty clear that registration of the gun carried concealed by people with CHP is exempt from local regulation regarding transportation and ownership. Like Chris said it would have to take a real case to get Omaha to comply.

What I would like to know is: Has anyone outside of Omaha with a CHP been pulled over in Omaha yet? Please let us know. I would like to know if the officer would have even bothered to ask for a registration card when already having seen the CHP.
