Call to Action Against LB-58 - RED FLAG LAW
m morton:
seen a story posted at GAT https://gatdaily.com/oh-no-canada-red-flags/ seems Canada is having issues with red flag laws bandwagon ..
i found this paragraph about 2/3 the way down and had to lol at the last 3 words
Blair, your officers may have used these laws. They may have used them to good effect. The laws you’re claiming aren’t there to be used, by the way. But I doubt very much you as a senior administrator put together these cases or collected data to see just how egregious different problems around firearms were before jumping on the “Do Something” express.
JAK:
Senator Crawford provided the following response,
"Thank you for reaching out with your concerns about LB 58. I have received a great deal of calls and emails about this bill and other bills having to do with Second Amendment rights this session. I am sympathetic to the need to protect people who could harm themselves or others but want to be sure that there are sufficient due process protections and appeal protections in place for law-abiding gun owners. If LB 58 advances to the full Legislature for debate, I will keep your email in mind"

Update on LB58:

"I am sure many of you have heard about LB58, the so-called “red flag law”. It is a carryover bill that was voted out of the Judiciary Committee last Friday with a 5-2-1 vote. The two recorded “nay” votes came from the only two Republican senators that serve on the committee."
As a Nebraskan, I understand we have a unicameral, but the fact that a committee like this can be dominated by one party really seems to defeat the balance. It bothers me, greatly.
Wildgoose:
My state senator Linehan replied that she did not support either bill. She also stated that both bills were not prioritized so they will not be heard on the floor.
