870 mag tube "dimple" removal
« on: November 17, 2021, 08:41:31 AM »
Anyone know of any 'smiths around Lincoln who are experienced with removing the dimples from an 870 magazine tube?  The ones that they started putting in around 1990 to hold the spring / plug retainer cap.

Or is it just better to drill them out myself?   I see mixed reviews on the effectiveness of having them pressed out, which is why, if I go that direction, I'd like a referral to someone who has done it before without irreparably jacking up the mag tube.

It's been a few years since I did it, but I just used the sanding drum on my Dremel tool to sand it down.  Haven't had any issues with the gun.

XS-Sights has a tool to remove the dimple for $40.  https://xssights.com/products/specialty/tools/
