RCBS Jr 2 restoration

Was gifted an RCBS Jr 2 press.

It had been ignored for some time.

Did some clean up and got'er working again.

A few notes:

* use of scotchbrite pad around the handle let me grip & turn it without marring it
* did some CLP and brass toothbrush work on parts before ultra sonic cleaner
* ultra sonic cleaner before the evaporust bath
* evaporust is awesome
* citristrip to get rid of the original paint.  mad respect for the original paint.  scotchbrite pad works better than a brass toothbrush when working everything
* this was a rostoleum rattle can paint.  primer and then the green.  it's currently coming off in a few places, which means i probably need to acetone and alcohol it better when/if i go to repaint - and possibly use a clear coat
* a neighbor has offered to throw the handle in his lathe and turn it to get rid of the pitting.  haven't done that yet
The aluminum primer catch tray probably isn't for the press.  I'll eventually buy or do my own 3D printed primer catch thing that's available online.

The press is mounted to the little board via some carriage bolts recessed into it, and then the board is held the bench via 3 other bolts.  A 2-1/8th inch hole was put into the board and then the board trimmed to about only a half circle hole left.  This adds some rigidity.  The little board is 5/4 decking, I think ?

I sized and de-primed the 308 shown in the pic with no probs (alcohol/lanolin lube seems great, too).

 very good job,

some of the very early presses came with a aluminum primer catcher, kind of rare

cftj:
Very cool. Makes me want to do the same thing to dads old Pacific.

See, i'm not sure if i just put a rubber band over it, or what.... for holding it in place.  i don't think i've got the cross member that goes across the two posts.

Granted, when I do the 3d printed primer catcher thing it won't really matter... but still ... it'd be nice to make it usable heh.
