Coyotes on Public Hunting Land

Anybody having success calling (and shooting, of course) coyotes on public land here in Nebraska?

Haven't tried it, mostly because I've heard some say that public land coyotes are overcalled and therefore somewhat call-shy.

But then, you hear lots of stuff all the time. 

So---I thought I'd check herein with NFOA members, where only the facts and straight skinny are ever displayed.

IMHO it depends on the location (ie hunting pressure), time of year, stand location, weather and sounds used.

Some people are good and some are lucky. Many are neither.

Out there in Norfolk you have coyotes right there in your back yard.

Eating out of the cat's bowl.

Probably have them named.  Or sumthin'.

Yup. Coyotes are everywhere.

NVG/thermal helps a lot.

I haven't yet spent the buck$ for NV or thermal, but I have mounted a nice red lens light on my .17WSM.

And it throws a beam out about as far as you'd want to shoot at night, maybe 200 yards.  And those critter eyes light up like big glowing globes.

Coyotes have been watching their calendars with great anticipation, because coyote mating season kicked in on Wednesday past.  Both sexes will respond to the estrus call.
