Arizona governor signs immigration enforcement bill
OnTheFly:
I've only caught snippets on the news, but is not a legal immigrant required to carry a green card at all times? If that is federal law, then there will be no "papers", just the documents that the federal gubment already requires.
Also, if the local law enforcement can't ask for this proof of citizenship because that is profiling, then how do the feds find anyone in the country illegally? Can we only have questions about their nationality if we find them walking in the AZ or TX dessert at night?

A friend sent me this information;
From the L A. Times
1. 40% of all workers in L. A. County (L. A. County has 10.2 million people) are working for cash and not paying taxes. This is because they are predominantly illegal immigrants working without a green card.
2. 95% of warrants for murder in Los Angeles are for illegal aliens.
3. 75% of people on the most wanted list in Los Angeles are illegal aliens.
4. Over 2/3 of all births in Los Angeles County are to illegal alien Mexicans on Medi-Cal, whose births were paid for by taxpayers.
5. Nearly 35% of all inmates in California detention centers are Mexican nationals here illegally.
6. Over 300,000 illegal aliens in Los Angeles County are living in garages.
7. The FBI reports half of all gang members in Los Angeles are most likely illegal aliens from south of the border.
8 Nearly 60% of all occupants of HUD properties are illegal.
9. 21 radio stations in L. A. are Spanish speaking.
10. In L.A. County 5.1 million people speak English, 3.9 million speak Spanish. (There are 10.2 million people in L. A. County.)
(All 10 of the above facts were published in the Los Angeles Times)
Less than 2% of illegal aliens are picking our crops, but 29% are on welfare. Over 70% of the United States ' annual population growth(and over 90% of California, Florida, and New York results from immigration. 29% of inmates in federal prisons are illegal aliens.
We are fools for letting this continue!

--- Quote from: Dan W on April 29, 2010, 07:59:30 PM ---You want to enlighten us as to why you think that? It is merely an enforcement statute that mirrors existing federal law, law that the feds refuse to apply, but the law none the less.

It is simply what I've heard from a source that I respect. Once again, I would like to actually read the law for myself. If it is, then great. Furthermore they need to stop them at the source and put NG on the border.
You are now enlightened.

Just to clarify my statement, when Andrew Napolitano says "this is unconstitutional" I can assume he has a leg to stand on. Arizona has been pushed in a corner that is hard to get out of. They are being forced to do what is supposed to be the Fed's job. Their best course of action will be the one that can stand up in courts. I believe they should be fighting this on multiple fronts so something sticks.
On another note, California now says it will cancel contracts with Arizona to boycott the new law. CA sends prison overflow to AZ, many are illegals. Does this mean AZ. will send the inmates back to CA?
