The NTN number on your purchase permit is simply the record that the Sheriff did a NICS check (it is the FBI number response   "NICS Transaction Number" ).

Your CHP will not have the NTN number on it. If you use your CHP as a purchase permit the FFL will just have to run another NICS check on you. It takes all of about 15 seconds online

Just waiting on the powers of the National ATF office, to give their blessing on the CHP being ok in place of the background check
