Omaha World-Herald Signing On With Righthaven
(1/1)
Cathy1911:
The Omaha World-Herald is signing on with Righthaven, the company filing punitive lawsuits for supposed copyright infringement against such bloggers and activists as Clayton Cramer and Second Amendment Sisters. If you have linked to or quoted any OWH content, take it down now.
Mudinyeri:
Here's a good article (linked ;D ) on how to avoid being sued by Righthaven: http://www.godlikeproductions.com/forum1/message1146844/pg1
Dan W:
We are in the process of registering an agent as we speak. It is going to cost the NFOA about $150...we could use some help to pay for it.
AND IT WILL LIKELY COVER THE MEMBERS, but not principals and directors.
Mudinyeri:
Good news ... if you're not a principal or director.
Edit: There are a number of good articles about the Righthaven lawsuits in the Las Vegas Sun, competitor to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. The R-J is the paper whose copyrights were originally, allegedly "stolen" and the basis for Righthaven's first suits.
Many defendants are filing pro se (withou an attorney) and stating that the Righthaven cases are frivolous due to the lack of jurisdiction over bloggers and site owners not based within the state of Nevada. Othere defendants are fighting back by claiming that Righthaven didn't own the copyright at the time that the infringement supposedly occured.
